Physical Therapy: Private sessions consist of one on one time with me in my home studio in West Bend, WI. An initial assessment is about 90 minutes and includes going through your intake forms, a thorough history, a movement screen, evaluation and treatment and education. We will work together to come up with a plan of care and discuss your goals for treatment. Follow up appointments are usually around 60 minutes, although can be longer if you are traveling from a distance. We will work together utilizing movement/exercise prescription, gentle manual therapy, learning body awareness principles, discussing habits, pain science education, goal-setting, stress management self-care, as well as other tools. ( breathing techniques, core integration, etc).
New! Beginning the week of July 23, I will be working part-time at Health in Balance Physical Therapy in their Germantown location with a focus on Pelvic Health Physical Therapy. This will be insurance-based PT and you can schedule an appointment by calling the clinic. My focus will be on incontinence (leaking urine with activity or urgency), pelvic pain and pregnancy or post-partum issues. Initially I will be working with women however men will be able to schedule as well in the near future. If you have non-pelvic health related issues you would like to see me for, an appointment can be requested.
What to bring and wear? Prior to your appointment, download the new client intake form here and fill it out and bring along to the appointment. Please bring or wear shorts or clothes/pants you can easily move in (pants that roll up above the knee.) A notebook to jot down notes and questions is also a good idea.
What about insurance? I am often asked if I take insurance*. The short answer to that question is no (this is soon changing! see below). You may attempt to submit a form to your insurance company for reimbursement as an out of network provider, but you will be responsible for payment at the time of service. I can give you a receipt if needed for documentation for HSA accounts. Many clients find it worthwhile to pay out of pocket to a fee for service provider, as they receive the benefit of one on one care for an hour or more. Physical therapy usually requires fewer visits than it would at a busier clinic, and by the time deductibles and co-pays are met (as well as time well spent!), people often find their expenses are the same or less. I will work with you to space out your appointments; most people do not come more than once per week. **If there is financial hardship, please contact me and we may be able to work out a sliding scale fee. New!* Beginning late July, I will be able to see people utilizing insurance at Health in Balance in Germantown. Contact Me to make an appointment in June or up till mid-July. In Wisconsin, you do not need a physician referral to see a physical therapist. Contact Health in Balance to make an appointment beginning July 23.
Group Classes: The cornerstone of my classes is exploratory exercises, functional movement, yoga poses, reflexive core and body awareness work, although I bring in a variety of other resources. We may use Yoga Tune-Up massage balls during class, using the balls to access a variety of tissues on our bodies for self massage with movement. Please visit my "About" pages to learn more about these classes and the Group Class Schedule to see what is currently being offered.
Workshop/Series "On Demand": Contact me if your group is interested in a Workshop or workshop series. I will come to you! Costs will vary depending on length of workshop, number of participants and/or travel time.
Beyond Kegels: This workshop can be discussion or discussion + experiential (movement and breathwork). Learn about your pelvic floor, how the pelvic floor is a part of our core and breathing system, what does a pelvic PT do and what conditions can be helped? How can you avoid or decrease urinary leaking, back pain and painful sex?
Pelvic Floor + Core Yoga classes: This class series can be developed to fit your facilities needs. Begins with a "Beyond Kegels" class and each class builds upon the previous. Participants will learn to build awareness of their pelvic floor, and how it works with their breathing and movement strategies. Harness your built-in pressure system and learn how to improve movement, fitness and leaking! (not a substitute for one on one physical therapy!) Home Party Option: Gather a few friends, and I can come to your home (or mine) for a 1+ hour class on "Beyond Kegels" workshop, or the use of Yoga Tune-Up Balls, or Intro to Exploratory Movement! Minimum of 5 participants, hostess is free. Contact me for pricing and more information.
Other options for topic specific workshops. Examples of these include:
Pain Primer- better understanding how pain works and what to do about it
Relax, Don't Do It! (focused on body awareness, breathing)
Get on the Ball (use of Yoga Tune-Up massage balls) or Soft Foam Roller
Don't Just Sit There (office movement makeover class)
